InfoLogix Speaks Out Across America on Medical Errors, Risk Management and Quality of Healthcare
Presentations at regional MUSE events put the spotlight on critical healthcare issues
HATBORO, PA – October 22, 2008 – InfoLogix, Inc. (NASDAQ: IFLG), a leading provider of enterprise mobility and advanced wireless asset tracking solutions for the healthcare and commercial industries, today announced that company thought leaders will present on issues and solutions related to patient safety, risk management and quality of care at Medical Users Software Exchange (MUSE) conferences throughout the United States in October and November.
Tanya Manfredi, RN, MSN, CNRN, a Senior Healthcare consultant for Healthcare Informatics Associates, an InfoLogix company, will present at the MUSE Western U.S. Regional Conference, held Oct. 22-23 in Portland, Ore. Manfredi’s presentation, “Avoiding the Risk of Failure with CPOE Implementations,” will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 1:30 p.m. PST.
In her presentation, Manfredi will address best practices for the implementation of Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) to improve patient outcomes, and outline why these programs can be costly and prone to failure without proper preparation. Manfredi will specifically discuss the importance of a readiness assessment to ensure success with CPOE, highlighting why it is critical for organizations to evaluate several key factors before implementation, including organizational technologies, strategies, structures, operations, culture and areas of strength and weakness.
Manfredi has served as a neuroscience nurse, orthopedics nurse and Clinical Nurse Leader, and holds more than 10 years of experience working with nursing and healthcare technologies, including all aspects of CPOE and nursing clinical documentation implementation.
Brenda Hopkins, RN, MBA, Director of Clinical Enterprise Strategy at InfoLogix, will speak at both the MUSE Eastern U.S. Regional Conference, Nov. 3-5, Vienna, Va., and the MUSE Central U.S. Regional Conference, Nov. 13-14, Louisville, Ky. Her presentation, “Lessons Learned in Improving Process Flow through Organizations’ Pre-Clinical System Integration,” will take place on Nov. 5, at 8:00 a.m. during the MUSE Eastern U.S. Conference, and on Nov. 13 at the MUSE Central U.S. Conference., with exact start time to be posted at booth 305.
In this presentation, Hopkins will discuss the importance of coupling implementation with process improvement in order to achieve increased patient safety and higher quality outcomes. Focusing on improving the way value is delivered to the patient, Hopkins will explain why eliminating non-value added activities and developing a keen understanding of patient flow requires looking at the system of care as a whole, and ultimately leads to better quality of life for both patients and caregivers.
Hopkins serves as an Internal Clinical Subject Matter Expert for New Product Development at InfoLogix. She has extensive clinical hospital experience as a pediatric intensive care and transport nurse, as well as hospital operations experience as an administrator. Hopkins is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA).
“Widespread medical errors and outdated infrastructure at U.S. healthcare facilities are putting both patients and hospitals at serious risk,” says David Gulian, president and CEO of InfoLogix. “By highlighting critical healthcare issues like patient safety, risk mitigation and workflow management at the MUSE conferences, our goal is to arm healthcare institutions with tools and insights to enable them to implement best practices, as well as leverage technology and process improvements to reduce medical errors, enhance patient care and cut down operating expenses at the same time.”
MUSE supports healthcare organizations using MEDITECH-developed software and technologies by providing a user-driven networking environment conducive to learning. Each spring, MUSE stages its annual International MUSE Conference, and, in the fall, regional conferences are held throughout North America and the United Kingdom.
Experts from Healthcare Informatics Associates and InfoLogix will offer additional insight at the MUSE Western U.S. Regional Conference in booth 43; at the MUSE Eastern U.S. Regional Conference in booth 605; and at the MUSE Central U.S. Regional Conference in booth 305.
